Target is like a laxative for my kids. Since we have started frequenting this Target location it NEVER fails. And I mean NEVER fails at some point during the trip both kids will have their daily movements. I guess that would be good news if they were constipated but they are not. The kids and I were visiting the baby section of the store, they had buy two get one free deals on toddler sippy cups and pacifiers when first Claire alerts me followed literally moments later by Conor. It was eerie. I mean come on. Both of them at once? As I type this I guess the silver lining is that it only means one trip to the bathroom to change diapers.

Claire despises this bathroom. Although she was demanding to be changed before we even got to the door she was declaring. “mommy, its too loud.” She hates the hand dryers in this bathroom and she has also developed a distaste for the changing table. While I assure her everything is ok and that I’m right there I take the opportunity to remind her that if she uses the potty and her undies she doesn’t have to lay on the changing table.

As I finish up with Claire, Conor starts in crying. I guess he doesn’t want to be outdone by his sister. As I hoist him up onto the table a woman comes out of the stall chitty chatting on her cell phone. She takes one look at me and the kids and says to the person on the other end of the line “i have GOT to get out of here some baby is crying.” I sort of glared at her with a “really? YOU’re the one on the cell phone in the BATHROOM.” I would kept the look to myself but that is one of my biggest peeves. What is so important you that you must discuss in a public restroom over the phone. Honestly. What you do at home is your business but in a public restroom? Come on.

With fresh diapers and babies relieved to be out of the bathroom we continued our shopping trip.

As a sidenote, I must declare my love for the “dollar” bins at Target. I have caved to the bribery method of potty training. I wasn’t going to but I am and I stocked up on things for Claire to choose from her reward potty box. Mickey mouse color book, animal puzzle, aristocats book, minnie mouse book, valentine playdough, valentine stickers – all for a dollar or around a dollar.
